On Thursday, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court expressed their displeasure over the alleged poor handling of patients infected with vector-borne diseases like dengue, chikungunya, viral fever, etc. in government-run hospitals in the city.

The bench of Justice D K Upadhyay and Justice Saurabh Srivastava expressed their concerns over the lack of beds in government hospitals. They also admonished the municipal corporation for failing to control the spread of dengue due to poor sanitation arrangements and fogging.

The bench of Justice D K Upadhyay and Justice Saurabh Srivastava directed the additional chief secretaries of medical and health services, the medical education department, the municipal commissioner, and other concerned departments to frame a safety protocol required to check the already widespread menace caused by vector-borne diseases.

The bench has fixed the next hearing for Friday itself. In a court hearing on the same issue, the bench expressed concern and showed their disappointment by stating that the government and civil machinery were lethargic in dealing with the situation.
